Google Groups: Share files and member information

Demonstration on: SANA_DWC

I have been using Google Groups since two months with my group members Naima, Shaikha, Amira and me (Amal). Actually, the main vision of our group is to discuss our accomplishment in HR Conference which is going to be on 22nd of November,2009.

Hence, I found that using Google Groups is a great and quick way to help users connect with group member, access information, communicate effectively via e-mail, Online discussion, create pages, share files no matter where they are. Besides that it’s easy and obvious for the teacher to evaluate students accordingly upon their participation and activity in the group. If you will notice that, we named our group SANA as we chose it from the first letter of group member names and DWC stands for our college.

I am happy today to give you a brief reflection and demonstration on my activity on SANA _ DWC group.

As I’m manager and member on the group I am entitle to do the below listed points:

1. Invite or add members: when we created the group I have add all the member, plus them Miss Nanacy as well so our group member is shown in the below picture.

2. Change group settings: Upon joining the group I have changed the group setting as I chose pink colure also I have add a photo for my account.

3. Create some pages: In Google Group there is a feature that enable the users to create pages, I have created two pages HR conference Gifts and HR conference Hall arrangement. The main purpose for both of the pages is to show them my ideas on gifts for the day and my thoughts of the conference hall arrangement. Also, I got plenty of reply from the group member.

4. Upload files and start discussion: Regularly I am uploading files like invitation letters to the judges and conference audience. Which really enable me to show group member and teacher my work. Also, we can post emails to each other.

Below is my overall activity in the last week, as I am regularly adding new things, pages and reply others in their discussion as well.

Reflection on Google Project

Frankly speaking, I am very excited with Google project in general as it was informative and helpful, especially some of the presentation which was about creating our own site through Google which really enable me to create my own page and included it into my CV. Particularly , my topic “Google search”, in the fact I was enjoying the preparation stage for my topic, as well as the information and tips that I have gathered on how we effectively search in Google by using simple symbols which will help you to reduce and minimize the resech results. Besides that, in the begging I was curious in learning what these steps are and transfer this interesting knowledge to the students as well because the majority of us are using Google in our searches. In the day of the presentation, really I found that the students are ready and concentrating to get the information’s. All in all, what really makes me happy and pleased that until know the students are asking me some questions on how to get limited resources.

Finally, what I learnt from this project that I have to be familiar with IT and check the working of the IT facilities before presenting.. so this is the lesson!
